What
is a ‘Ufologist?’
Am I a Ufologist, if I have 'proven' that a 'UFO sighting' and the corresponding videotape of the same, was indeed 'proven' to have been: 'untampered with,' as well as 'unaltered,' or in short: a completely undisputed videotape of an 'unknown flying object.' And by 'unknown,' it should be related that it was seen within 1/8th of a mile and could not have possibly been any 'known' form of 'identifiable' aeronautical, winged aircraft of this planet Earth.
Up close, it certainly had the appearance of a 'space ship' from another world, as I have written in my records of accountings found along with my research of this 'sighting' and videotaping at: http://jasonleigh.org/finding.htm (Factual Findings), http://jasonleigh.org/vid1.htm (daytime videotape--Real Audio player), http://jasonleigh.org/log.htm (video run-time log), http://jasonleigh.org/6thwitness.htm (the 6th witness contacted report of sighting).
Am I a Ufologist, if I did what I did in tracking down the flight records from the airport here in my small town and seeing the flight record book with my own eyes, as well as calling the F.A.A. in Fort Worth to verify that there were 'no flights' over this area at that time, while also calling three (3) major airlines to confirm there were none of their flights in this area at that time?
Am I a Ufologist, if I viewed the video through a 5-head VCR, frame by frame, then took this same video to a friend's studio and had the audio analyzed using his professional equipment such as a ‘spectrum analyzer’ to determine that the ONLY sounds to be heard were the ambient sounds in and around the camcorder?
Am I a Ufologist, if I turned over a 1st generation copy of this said videotape to the main chapter of MUFON in Texas, when 6 of their 'researchers' came to visit with me and ventured to the scene of the sighting, reminding them to take samples of the water out at the lake (which I had already done and sent off to a lab where it was determined that the oxygen levels had been depleted in lake) where this ‘object’ was seen to hover 100 feet above the water when they hadn't had the thought to have done so, and when they confirmed after their 'professional' analyst studied this videotape and determined that it was not tampered with, and that it was, indeed, what it appeared to be: an 'unknown' aircraft?
Am I a Ufologist, if I filled out a sworn police record, called, 'an incident report,' after I had called and spoke to the head of security, Mr. Jim Turner, with the 'National Balloon Base' in a taped interview, to determine that this 'unknown' aircraft was not a 'weather balloon,' as according to Mr. Turner; they had not, in fact, launched a weather balloon on June the 11th, 1995, nor could they fly, under Federal guidelines, weather balloons over 'populated' areas, despite the major media's reports that the 'unknown' sighting was a 'weather balloon?'
Would I then be a 'Ufologist' after all of the above, bearing in mind that there may have been something I did, which I may have failed to mention herein that would also have added more truth to the reality that this sighting was of a 'traditional' looking, UFO?
All of this, without being a member nor associated with any UFO research group at the time of the sighting/videotaping, apart from my own expertise in video analysis by virtue of my having worked in television broadcasting for almost 20 years with a 3rd, 2nd and 1st Class F.C.C. (Federal Communications Commission) license and the education needed to obtain said degrees and certifications, as well as having had by that time, NASA's certifications in space related technologies, while also being an Honorably Discharged U.S. Navy Veteran and former Boy Scout with a working knowledge of the primary Earth directions of navigation on land, sea and air, while also having a working knowledge of the same including radar technology; would I be considered a Ufologist by 'proving' that this sighting/videotape of June the 11th, 1995, was a 'real', a.k.a., 'Space Ship' from another world?
Although it may be true that my lifetime of having a highly technical background gave me an edge over most other common, although intelligent men or women, it should, nevertheless, prove that one need not have any formal training whatsoever to set about 'proving' this type of matter, given to the resources that are out there to assist someone who is willing to undertake such an 'investigation,' simply by investing the needed time, money and dedications to result in the conformation of not only a videotape or a photograph of an 'unknown' object that is otherwise called, a 'UFO.'
I submit, that all that is needed for the common man or woman to be a 'UFO researcher,' is a wiliness to do so by putting into motion most of the criteria, which I have stated herein, which may also entail bringing in the people who could aid in this undertaking to a reasonable degree of acceptance. Period.
Sincerely, in truth,
Jason Greywolf Leigh
